TABB Micro Grant Program

The TABB Micro Grant Program is an experiment. What does it mean to be black? What is black existence without the pressure to perform or recall specific histories? What would black art look like if the whimsy of black artists are explored.
This program is designed to put resources directly into the hands of emerging Black artists and creators in Newfoundland & Labrador. We know that sometimes all it takes is a little boost in the shape of funding for materials, access to equipment, or support to get a project off the ground and to turn an idea into reality.
This program provides small-scale grants to help artists experiment, take risks, and keep creating. Whether you’re developing a new piece of work, exploring a fresh idea, or simply need support to sustain your practice, these micro grants are here to make sure lack of funding isn’t what holds you back.

Through the Aid and Partnership with Foundation For Black Communities (FFBC). TABB has a total of $15 ,000 available to be awarded. The maximum grant request is $3,000, and the minimum grant to be awarded is $1, 000, or the total amount requested by the applicant is less than
$1,000.

Outcomes

We hope that by supporting artists at the ground level, TABB’s Micro Grant Program would help nurture new ideas and projects. The freedom that exists within this grant is to encourage experimentation and growth. Ultimately, we hope that this would build confidence and momentum for the artist to access bigger opportunities in the future.$1,000.

Why This Matters

This program aims to strengthen the presence and visibility of Black artistry in Newfoundland & Labrador. These micro grants are about possibility; creating room for exploration, supporting the spark of an idea, and helping Black artists thrive right here in our community.
